Title:  FEVE Fluoropolymer Coatings:  Corrosion Resistance Using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS)

Abstract:  FEVE coatings have long been recognized for their weatherability and durability.  For coatings used in industrial maintenance applications like bridges or water tanks, resistance to corrosion is the primary reason for using protective coatings.  This presentation will give a brief overview of FEVE coating technology, then discuss the basics of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).  Results from conventional corrosion tests and from EIS tests on FEVE coatings will be presented, including comparisons with different topcoat technologies.

Biography:  Winn Darden is Business Manager for LUMIFLON® fluoropolymer resins for North America.  He has more than 30 years of experience in sales and marketing of coating raw materials and specialty coatings.  He has given presentations on paints and coatings for organizations like NACE and the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC).  Winn holds 12 US Patents.  He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Chemistry and an MBA.
